•assigned to the Clarendonian based on "a K/Ar date of 9.81" m.y. on an "approximately equivalent" aged tuff "in a diatomite mine about 2.5 km south"

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; tuffaceous diatomite

• "the bottom water was anoxic and not subject to seasonal overturn... deposits were far from shore"
• "The middle member... is composed principally of finely laminated (varved) diatomite with occasional tuffs... Uninterrupted lamination... very infrequent bioturbation, and excellent preservation"
